Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Network Energy Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning.
The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within the Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

PhD Student in Research on Switching Behavior of SiC-based Modules (m/f/d)
Your mission
- Research switching loss reduction for power modules with SiC MOSFET parallel connection
- Research impact of common source kelvin emitter versus on chip kelvin emitter on oscillation
behavior and methods of optimization - Research reduction of switching losses by introducing damping network
(e.g. RC snubber network based on standard components like film capacitors) - Research soft switching techniques in parallel-Connected SiC MOSFET power modules
- Prove simulations and developed strategies by proto type build and electrical characterization of those
- Tracking the academic frontiers and research trends in switching loss reduction technologies in Europe
- Write the publications according to phd graduation requests
- Help Huawei maintain long-term and good cooperation with research groups in universities and institutes
- Support the close collaboration with fast charging headquarters research team by regularly reporting to the sponsors on the progress of the PhD thesis-related research topics and the presentation of the results
Your areas of expertise
- Currently enrolled or graduate as a Master's student in electrical engineering
- Solid experience in electrical simulation technologies witch special focus in power devices
- Solid experience in electrical characterization technologies witch special focus in power devices
- Solid understanding of switching behavior of power devices (e.g. IGBT, MOSFET, SiC, GaN)
- Fluent in written and spoken English (working language)
- Good communication skills and multicultural environment adaptability.
