The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Research Assistant for Consumer Battery Simulation - Leased Labor 6-18 months (m/f/d)
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Python-based models for battery cell simulations, including electrochemical, thermal, aging, and swelling analyses throughout the full life cycle, with special consideration of composite anode properties.
- Build and optimize model-based frameworks to predict nonlinear aging behavior under user-specific operating conditions, enhance battery life with advanced charging and thermal management strategies, and leverage machine learning to support electrochemical models.
- Collaborate closely with the Headquarter Research Team and product teams, providing regular progress reports and presenting results.
- Work under the supervision of the project lead to support and align with strategic modeling goals and research targets.
Requirements:
- Holding or nearing completion of a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in energy storage, materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, vehicle engineering, control science, electrochemistry, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of both electrochemical and equivalent circuit models for batteries, with advanced programming skills in Python. Matlab/Simulink is not required but desirable.
- Established network with top research groups across Europe.
- Fluent in written and spoken English (working language); German or Chinese skills are advantageous. Strong communication skills and adaptability in multicultural environments.
