Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Network Energy Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning.
The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within the Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Your mission
- Provide insights of core technologies for next-generation advanced safety technologies for energy storage system.
- Provide insights on future-requirements according to the European battery regulation and battery passport with a special focus on future battery management requirements.
- Contribute to Huawei efforts in advanced battery safety solutions beyond state-of-the-art and internal standards.
- Getting familiar with residential and commercial as well as utility-scale energy storage system products drawback and regulations of different European countries.
- Getting deeply involved in discussion and development of safety and performance guidelines of different European battery associations (e.g., BVES, EASE, Battery Europe).
- Contribute to the European / international development of standards by representing Huawei in working groups (e.g., DKE) with a strong impact for the European battery eco-system.
- Track the academic frontiers and research trends of electrochemical energy storage technologies in Europe. Support the development of high-quality cooperation in Europe and help Huawei maintain long-term and sustainable relationships with universities and research institutions.
- Responsible for closely collaborating with Headquarter Research Team of Watt Lab and product teams by regularly reporting to sponsors, including progress of research projects and presentation of results.
Your areas of expertise
- Master's degree or (pending) PhD in either energy storage, materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, automotive engineering, control science and engineering, electrochemistry or a related field
- Strong academic or work experience in battery standards/regulations in Europe A current core member or past participant in European battery alliances such as Battery European 2030+, Batteries European Partnership Association、Batt4EU and in particular in standardization committees such as DKE or Cenelec.
- Willing to travel internationally (including Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, France, UK, other European countries and China)
- Fluent in written and spoken English and German. Knowledge of Chinese and other European languages is a plus. Good communication skills and ability to adapt to a multicultural environment.
