Master Thesis Student or Intern for Medium Access Protocols in Converged WiFi / Optical Fiber Communication (m/f/d)
Your mission
- Analyze and simulate MAC layer algorithms for WiFi and optical networks, with focus on fiber to the room
- Topics of interest may include multi-access point coordination (such as Co-TDMA, Co-OFDMA, Co-SR, Co-BF, Joint transmission) using fibre backhauling, multi-link technologies, optical and wireless integration architectures and protocols, i.e. optical based Wi-Fi fronthauling, cross-layer coordinated scheduling algorithm
- Explore network architectures and advanced technologies, including access control, roaming management, air interface contention management, queue management, flow control, and/or interference optimization at the MAC layer
Your areas of expertise
- You are currently enrolled in a Master's program in Electrical, Electronic, Optoelectronic Engineering or a related field at a recognized European university
- Knowledge of wireless or optical communication systems (MAC protocols, PHY layer concepts)
- Good programming skill in at least one of the following programming languages: Matlab, Python, C/C++
- Experience in network simulation tools (such as NS3, OPNET, OMNeT++) is a plus
- Must be eligible to work in the European Union to be considered for this position
- Fluent in English (written and oral)
