Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Network Energy Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning.
The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within the Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Principle/Senior Engineer in Battery Regulations/Standards (m/f/d)
Your mission
- Provide insights of core technologies for next-generation advanced safety technologies and innovations for increased performance and durability for battery energy storage systems.
- Provide insights on future-requirements according to the European battery regulation and battery passport with a special focus on future battery management requirements.
- Contribute to Huawei efforts in advanced battery safety and reliability solutions beyond state-of-the-art and internal standards.
- Contribute to Huawei efforts in further improving performance and durability of battery energy storage systems.
- Getting familiar with residential and commercial as well as utility-scale battery energy storage system challenges and regulation/standardization efforts of different European countries.
- Getting deeply involved in discussion and development of safety and performance guidelines of different European battery associations (e.g., BVES and EASE).
- Based on a profound technical knowledge and R&D experience, contribute to the European / international development of standards by representing Huawei in working groups (e.g., DKE) with a strong impact for the European battery eco-system.
- Track the academic frontiers and research trends of electrochemical energy storage technologies in Europe.
- Support the development of high-quality cooperations in Europe and help Huawei maintain long-term and sustainable relationships with universities and research institutions.
- Responsible for closely collaborating with Huawei Digital Power Headquarter R&D and product teams as well as internal standardization groups by regularly reporting and requesting for feedback, including progress of research projects and presentation of results.
Your areas of expertise
- Master degree or ideally PhD in electrochemistry, electrical engineering, control science and engineering or in any related field
- Profound work experience in battery energy storage domains with a clear understanding of stationary applications and its requirements
- Profound work experience with development of standards and beyond standards approaches and clear understanding of European battery regulation requirements.
- Being already a core member of working groups of European energy storage associations or standardization organizations would be advantageous.
- Experience in leading project teams with corresponding management skills.
- Willing to travel internationally (European countries and China)
- Fluent in written and spoken English and German. Chinese and other European language skills are a plus.
- Very good communication skills and multi-cultural environment adaptability.
