Huawei’s Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technical research, architecture evolution design and strategic technical planning.
The Optical and Quantum Communications Laboratory in Munich researches and develops signal processing, components and systems for fixed access, data center networks, metro and long-haul optical networks. The department engages in local research and collaborates with academic and industrial partners from the European ecosystem.
Now we are looking for a
PhD Intern Optical Communications (m/f/d)
Your Mission:
Be part of the next generation of optical access networks and develop the DSP necessary to properly transmit and detect a 200 Gb/s optical signal in a point-to-multipoint network.
Your responsibilities:
- As a team member of the optical access team the main task will be to study different digital signal processing schemes to compensate for the impairments that the optical signal suffers through the optical fiber, particularly for a signal with total bitrate of 200Gb/s.
- Study DSP alternatives for both direct and coherent detection.
- Verify the DSP through simulations and/or lab measurements.
Our requirements:
- PhD student in electrical engineering with focus on optical communications
- Knowledge of optical signal propagation effects
- Knowledge of coherent detection schemes
- Knowledge of digital signal processing blocks for coherent detection
- Programming skills in Python and/or MATLAB®
- Interest in a lab as working environment.
