The Advanced Wireless Technologies Lab (AWTL)
is responsible for research activities towards the definition and development of mobile network technologies and communication systems for vertical industries. AWTL has been engaging with multiple research and standardization activities, including participating to European Commission funded research projects of Horizon 2020 framework, contributing to industrial communication fora as 5G-AA, 5G-ACIA, transferring technologies to standardization bodies like 3GPP, ETSI, GSMA, NGMN, and developing in-house experimental platforms, prototypes and proof of concepts on wireless and networking technologies. Recently, AWTL
has its focus towards the next generation (6G) wireless networks and technologies. The AWTL lab is expanding, and we are looking for a
PhD student for Cyber-Physical System (CPS) Requirement Analysis and System Architecture Design (m/f/d)
Your mission
- Contribute to research and development of 6G network architecture design especially to support vertical industry scenarios
- Explore the potential enabling technologies impact on 6G network architecture design (e.g. AI/ML), and corresponding functional support, e.g. digital twin
- Simulation or prototype development for solution feasibility testing and performance evaluation.
- Publish research paper on high impact international conferences and journals
- Participate in relevant R&D activities locally and with other R&D centers
- Drive the internal technical contribution as well as external technology discussion with industry and academic partners
Your areas of expertise
- Completed the master studies in Telecommunication, Computer science, Informatics, Electrical Engineering or any related field of study
- Strong background in network architecture and wireless communications
- In-depth knowledge in mobile communication system (e.g. 5G, beyond 5G)
- Experience with AI/ML, DLT, distributed computing, performance evaluation would be a plus
- Hands-on experience with testbed demonstration and simulation setup
- Solid programming skill in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Java, C/C++
- Excellent knowledge of English in communication and writing
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player
