For the Trusted System Security Laboratory, 

join us as an

Intern / Working Student / Thesis in System Security (m/f/d) – Praktikum who will participate in system security R&D activities for a duration of 6-9 months (can be shorter for PhD candidates).

Your mission

• Study state-of-the-art architectures for system security based on hardware Roots of Trust (e.g. TPM, DICE) and memory protection technologies, for CPUs, NPUs and GPUs
• Propose new solutions for real-world system security problems to ensure resistance to attacks and recovery from potential compromise
• Implement Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed architectures
• Apply for high-value patents and participate in submitting publications to top security conferences

Your areas of expertise

• Currently enrolled in a PhD, Master or Bachelor in computer science, cybersecurity, AI or other domain-related discipline
• Solid knowledge of Rust or C programming; experience in C++ or Python may be useful
• Understanding of basic security concepts and experience with digital signatures, keys and cryptographic algorithms
• Big plus: experience with hardware Roots of Trust such as TPM and DICE, security capabilities such as BTI, PAC, MTE, shadow stack and CHERI, or with TrustZone and confidential computing such as based on SGX, TDX, SEV, CCA
• Relevant: familiarity with GPU or NPU architecture, or with cluster-based computing for LLMs

• Comfortable communicating in English
• Excellent interpersonal skills and team-work spirit and independent working capability
• Hands-on and can-do attitude
