Principal Engineer - Steering Systems (EPS/SbW) Function Design and Tuning (m/f/d)
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative engineer with deep expertise in Steering and/or Steer-by-Wire (SbW) systems. You will lead the development, implementation, and optimization of advanced control strategies for next-generation steering systems.
The ideal candidate will have deep understanding and interest in modeling of Steering and/or SbW control strategies especially for highly automated vehicles, including stability and safety control based on Steering and/or SbW system. Your role in a multidisciplinary team requires collaboration with our global research and development community. Your will be working on future trends of technologies, architectures, requirements in Vehicle Steering Technologies.
Your mission
Research, develop, design and tune steering features e.g. steering feel characteristics to deliver an exceptional driving experience.
Integrate Steering and/or SbW systems with vehicle dynamics controllers (brake, ADS/ADAS, VDC,..).
Conduct vehicle-level testing and calibration to validate steering feel and system robustness.
Utilize tools (e.g., Vector tools Canape, Canoe, dSpace, Matlab-Simulink) to model and verify system performance.
Support functional safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity compliance for SbW systems.
Contribute to HMI strategy, ensuring natural and intuitive driver interaction with digital steering.
Your areas of expertise
Master’s or higher degree in Automotive Engineering Control Systems or a related field, with a focus on steering systems.
6+ years of experience in developing control systems for Steering and/or SbW or related chassis systems. Deep understanding of vehicle dynamics principles, kinematics, and control theory.
Proven expertise in designing and deploying control algorithms for Steering and/or SbW or autonomous driving systems.
Strong communication capabilities. Ability to make the planned deliverables happen under pressure.
Enthusiastic to work as part of our international team and fluent communication skills in English.
Willing to travel to China (about 20% of time).
