Huawei's Ohm Research Center (Nuremberg) is responsible for Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning.
The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within the Huawei Ohm Research Center (Nuremberg) is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Senior/Principal Engineer – Grid Integration & Power System Simulation (m/f/d)
Your mission
Lead technical collaboration and joint innovation with European utilities, TSOs/DSOs, customers, universities, and research institutes.
Support major grid integration projects involving PV, BESS, wind, and other inverter-based resources.
Lead advanced RMS and EMT simulation studies for grid stability, weak-grid operation, control interaction, and system-level risks.
Conduct pre-research on emerging simulation technologies, including wide-area EMT, generic EMT models, automated stability assessment, and RMS/EMT hybrid simulation.
Develop grid integration and simulation methodologies, including model validation, stability assessment, and technical risk identification.
Track European grid requirements, industry trends, and future technology needs, and contribute to technology roadmap development.
Your areas of expertise
Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Power Electronics, or a related field.
Strong background in power system dynamics, stability, and inverter-based resources.
Hands-on experience with tools such as PSCAD, PowerFactory, PSS®E, or EMTP.
Experience in large-scale grid connection, renewable integration, or system stability projects.
Experience or good understanding of real-time and hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) simulation, such as CHiL/PHIL and real-time simulation platforms would be an advantage.
Experience working with utilities, customers, universities, or research institutes.
Excellent English communication skills and ability to work in an international environment.
Experience in grid-forming technology, wide-area EMT simulation, European grid codes, or participation in CIGRE, IEEE, IEC, or similar technical organizations is a strong advantage.
