Consultant - Sensor Innovation & Insight Specialist (m/f/d)

We are recruiting a sensor technology specialist to drive innovations in next-generation terminal sensors and their application scenarios. This role will lead collaborative research projects with academic institutions and industrial partners to develop groundbreaking sensor technologies, and spearhead innovation across three core pillars: high-performance and low-power sensor solutions, cross-device multi-sensor fusion perception, as well as natural and immersive human-machine interaction. You will shape our technical roadmap by identifying emerging industry trends and translating academic research into actionable strategic plans.

Your mission

• Take the lead in drafting proposals for joint research programs with academic institutes and industry collaborators, and develop cutting-edge sensor technologies for smart terminals including smartphones, smartwatches, earbuds, smart rings, smart glasses and IoT devices;

• Advance innovations covering high-performance low-power sensor solutions, cross-device multi-sensor fusion perception, and natural immersive interaction systems

• Design, prototype and validate novel sensor architectures to boost overall performance and functional capabilities.

• Identify emerging trends in sensor technologies by engaging with international research communities and evaluating their commercialization potential

• Convert academic findings (including outputs from global joint research) into executable business strategies and product development roadmaps

• Provide technical guidance on long-term R&D priorities and potential investment opportunities

• Collaborate closely with engineering, product development and business teams to align sensor innovation with market demands

• Establish and sustain partnerships with world-leading academic bodies, research consortia and industrial alliances

• Facilitate joint research initiatives, knowledge exchange and co-development programs with global industry experts

Your areas of expertise

• Sensor Development: Extensive experience in the R&D and deployment of consumer electronics sensors, such as IMUs, optical sensors, magnetic sensors, biosensors and gas sensors.

• Hardware Prototyping: Hands-on experience in PCB design, embedded system development and signal processing.

• Sensor Algorithm Development: Practical experience applying AI/ML algorithms to sensor data processing.

• Proven track record in technology scouting, competitive benchmarking, and translating global research trends into product-level implementations.

• Demonstrated success in leading international R&D collaborations, preferably within academia, corporate research labs or tech startups.

• Advanced degree (Master’s or above) in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or other relevant disciplines

• No less than 5 years of hands-on experience in sensor technology development, preferably within the consumer electronics sector, with a solid background in international collaborative projects.
