The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Huawei Ohm Research Center (Nuremberg) is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Senior/Principal Engineer – Power Electronics (AI-Driven Designs for Future AI Data Centers) (m/f/d)
Your mission
Pioneer AI-assisted design methodologies for next-generation power converters; integrate deep learning and machine learning frameworks to optimize magnetic components, synthesize circuit topologies, and automate control strategies.
Collaborate with the local engineering team to resolve critical technical bottlenecks and enhance product performance in high-density power supply solutions using AI-driven modeling and optimization approaches.
Expand and lead the European technical ecosystem, driving strategic R&D partnerships, joint research initiatives, and technical collaborations with top-tier universities and research institutes.
Evaluate emerging global trends across industry and academia at the intersection of power electronics and AI, identifying high-impact technologies for internal adoption.
Deliver technology insights, share strategic technical perspectives, and formulate AI-powered technology roadmaps to guide the long-term development of future power supplies.
Your areas of expertise
(Required) Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
Proven R&D track record in training and deploying deep learning and machine learning models utilizing modern frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, or equivalent). Experience must encompass advanced architectures (e.g., Transformers, CNNs, RNNs/LSTMs, GNNs, or Physics-Informed Neural Networks) applied to complex system modeling, optimization, and simulation.
Solid knowledge in power electronics R&D, with a proven ability to apply cutting-edge design concepts (e.g., advanced magnetics, digital control strategies, and innovative circuit topologies) to power conversion solutions.
Demonstrated technical footprint via a verified portfolio of granted patents, peer-reviewed publications (e.g., IEEE, APEC, PCIM, NeurIPS), or widely-adopted open-source models/code repositories.
Professional fluency in English with excellent technical documentation and presentation skills.
