Huawei’s Heisenberg Research Center is looking for a Master student pursuing the Master thesis work on Terminal Positioning based on 5G network signals. Positioning of the terminal is required for reliable communications and to enable a variety of applications depending on the user location. Positioning based on 5G networks is considered as an alternative to positioning. Positioning based on 5G networks employs measurements such as pseudo-range and carrier phase rather than obtaining the relevant information directly from the GNSS signal. As a Master student in the Wireless Terminal Chipset Technology Lab at MRC you will use an existing simulation platform, implement algorithms for positioning, and evaluate the accuracy of the results thus obtained.

Your Responsibilities

• Implementation of positioning algorithms based on measurements of pseudo-range and carrier phase from multiple base-stations visible to the terminal.

• Evaluation of the accuracy of the estimated position as a function of the assumed measurement errors and the base-stations used for positioning.

Your Expertise and Experience

• University student pursuing a Master degree or a Diploma degree, in the subject of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering or Mathematics.

• Highly interested in innovative solutions and technologies in wireless communications.

• Self-motivated and results-oriented work style.

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

• Good academic transcripts from the study.

• Programming including JavaScript, HTML

• Understanding 5G is an advantage.

• Good Knowledge about linear algebra and signal processing is an advantage.
