Spatial AI Research Engineer/Scientist (m/f/d)
Huawei's Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Spatial AI Research Engineer/Scientist to join our team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence in physical and virtual environments. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and optimizing algorithms for spatial understanding, reasoning, and interaction, with a primary focus on agentic AI systems and embodied robotics applications.
Riemann Lab is responsible for building Huawei's spatial information technology capabilities. With core technologies such as multimodal, fusion perception, generative mapping and spatial computing, it enables Huawei's ToB and ToC full-scenario businesses in areas such as the HarmonyOS ecosystem (Smartphone, watch, cockpit, XR glasses), wireless/energy/ICT, etc.

Spatial AI Research Engineer/Scientist (m/f/d)
Your mission
- Research & Design: Lead or contribute to the research, design, and implementation of novel Spatial AI models and algorithms, including those for generative mapping, active perception, and spatial memory/cognition.
- Agentic AI Integration: Develop and deploy spatial reasoning modules that enable intelligent agents and robotic systems to navigate, manipulate objects, and plan complex tasks effectively within dynamic, real-world environments.
- Software Development: Write high-quality, efficient, and well-documented code primarily in Python and C++/Rust for various platforms, including robotics operating systems.
- Data & Simulation: Manage, process, and analyse large datasets (e.g., point clouds, 3D meshes, sensor fusion data) and utilize state-of-the-art simulators (e.g., Habitat, Isaac Sim) for algorithm testing and optimization.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (ML engineers, roboticists, software developers) to transition research prototypes into production-ready systems.
- Publication & IP: Stay current with the latest academic research, contribute to internal technical reports, and potentially prepare work for external publication or patent filing.
Your areas of expertise
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
