Join Automotive Engineering Lab (AEL) as:
Principal Engineer - Brake Systems (EHB/BbW) Function Design and Tuning (m/f/d)
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative engineer with deep expertise in Braking and/or Brake-by-Wire (BbW) systems. You will lead the development, implementation, and calibration of advanced control strategies for next-generation braking systems.
The ideal candidate will have deep understanding and interest in modeling of Braking and/or BbW control strategies especially for highly automated vehicles, including stability and safety control based on Braking and/or BbW system. Your role in a multidisciplinary team requires collaboration with our global research and development community. Your will be working on future trends of technologies, architectures, requirements in Vehicle Braking Technologies.
Your mission
Research, develop, design and tune braking features e.g. model brake pedal feel characteristics, calibrate slip and stability control systems to deliver an exceptional driving experience.
Integrate Braking and/or BbW systems with other chassis control system (E-Motor, ADS/ADAS, SbW,..).
Conduct vehicle-level testing and calibration to validate braking performance, vehicle stability, and system robustness.
Utilize tools (e.g., Vector tools Canape, Canoe, dSpace, Matlab-Simulink, C++ Coding, VBox, NCode) to model and verify system performance.
Support functional safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity compliance for BbW systems.
Contribute to innovating driver interaction with the brake system interface by proposing new EHB/BbW features and functions (e.g., drift mode, donut mode).
Your areas of expertise
Master’s or higher degree in Automotive Engineering Control Systems or a related field, with a focus on braking systems.
10+ years of experience in design control systems for Braking and/or BbW or related chassis systems. Deep understanding of vehicle dynamics principles, kinematics, and control theory.
Proven expertise in designing and deploying control algorithms for Braking and/or BbW or autonomous driving systems.
Proven expertise in tuning longitudinal and lateral slip controllers within braking and stability subsystems. Skilled in developing calibration strategies to customize vehicle dynamics responses across different drive modes.
Strong communication capabilities. Ability to make the planned deliverables happen under pressure.
Enthusiastic to work as part of our international team and fluent communication skills in English.
Willing to travel to China (about 20% of time).
